So if you’ve been reading my blog, you will know that I’ve been thinking about moving away from my usual celebrity drawings and focussing on art that is closer to home. This is for a number of reasons – mainly the fact that I like the idea of composing a drawing from start to finish, including setting the scene and taking the photographs. I’m also one of those people who likes to change things up every once in a while, so it makes sense that this is reflected in my artwork.
I haven’t had a lot of time to think about art composition this week (sadly) so today’s post is more like a stage one of a relatively long design process. It was very handy because it gave me the chance to try out different angles and expressions and it was also a good way of easing myself into ‘real life’ drawings.
These sketches took me longer than I was expecting – possibly because I’m not used to drawing people that I actually know. It definitely does make a surprising difference! I’ve got a way to go before I’m completely happy with my technique in this new art direction but it’s always exciting to step outside of your comfort zone.
Next week will hopefully see more of a progression of this style and I will be one step closer to coming up with a final design.
Until next time!
